California Medicare Plans
Persons who are 65 or older are eligible for this health insurance plan. The plan covers those as well who are disabled or suffering from any other another special situation. Medicare is designed to pay off health insurance premiums of American senior citizens and disabled individuals.
With Medicare, beneficiary can receive benefits in two ways:
Medicare Parts A & B:
Under the Medicare Part A, beneficiary gets covered with inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some other important home health care facilities as well.
Under Medicare Part B
beneficiary gets covered with certain doctors’ services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.
Medicare Part C
Also known as Medicare advantage, the plan groups the coverage given by both plans A & B above in one plan. The plan offers all the benefits included in Original Medicare plan except hospice care. Some Medicare Advantage plans also include prescription drug coverage and routine eye and dental care coverage as well if not available in original Medicare.
Medicare Part D:
Medicare part D offers coverage for common generic and brand name prescription drugs. The Government however has stricter guidelines for what medications Medicare Part D plans must cover. Do note that the prescription drugs covered under the plan vary from plan to plan. Therefore, verify if your prescriptions are covered in each plan’s list of covered medications.
Medicaid is well-designed health care plan specially meant for low income people. The plan sometimes also includes pregnant women, children, older people and people with a disability as qualified beneficiaries. Under the plan a beneficiary is qualified to get covered for hospital stays, doctor visits, pregnancy care and tests and x-rays. A person is eligible for applying for and enroll in Medicaid or CHIP at any time of year. If you’re found eligible for the plan, coverage begins right away.
